What is support coordination?

A support coordinator will help you to:
  • Connect you with supports and services in line with your wishes and your plan budget
  • Build your capacity and capability to understand your plan, to navigate the NDIS and make your own decisions
  • Monitor your budget expenditure and the effectiveness of your supports
  • Help you connect you with people and services in your community, and help you understand your options.
A support coordinator will also help you with different things depending on your individual goals, needs and circumstances.

What TasRespite coordinators can do for you

Our experienced Support Coordinators are available to guide you and work alongside your family, friends, and carers to guarantee that you are getting supports that you need by:
  • Supporting you to select the best services to meet your needs and making sure you are getting the appropriate service as agreed
  • Supporting you to negotiate service agreements and prices for services and deciding how much you want to pay for these
  • Assisting with managing a budgets
  • Discussing short term accommodation
  • Supporting you prepare for plan review meetings
  • Supporting you prepare for plan review meetings
Level 1: Support Connection

At this level, your support coordinator will help you understand your plan, and to connect with NDIS providers in your area and link you with mainstream and other supports to implement your NDIS plan.

It should also increase participant’s confidence and skills to manage their plan independently.

Level 2: Coordination of supports
Your support coordinator will support you build your confidence and daily living skills to develop independence and choice. The supports incorporate a mix of supports to develop your capacity capacity to live more independently and increases access and to be included in your community.
Level 3: Specialist support coordination
This is a higher level of support coordination for participants with complex health, housing, education or employment needs. Your specialist support coordinator will have relevant qualifications, knowledge and skills that will allow them to assist you to manage challenges in your support environment and ensure a consistent delivery of service. Specialist support coordination helps to address complex barriers which affect access to appropriate supports.
