Psychosocial Recovery Coaching (PRC)

Connects you with supports and services

What is a recovery coach?

A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is an NDS funded worker that has mental health knowledge. Psychosocial Recovery Coaches provide specialist mental health coaching to NDIS participants with psychosocial disabilities to manage complex challenges of daily living including navigating both the NDIS and the mental health system.

But what exactly does a recovery coach do and what can you expect if you work with one? A recovery coach will:

  • Work with you, and people important to you, to understand your needs and support you to implement your recovery plan

  • Support you to connect with different mainstream, and informal supports, and services

  • Assist you with coordination of NDIS supports and make sure that you get most from your NDIS Plan

  • Help you connect you with people and services in your community, and help you understand your options.

How we do it

We are about what is important, meaningful, and satisfying in your life – whatever that means to you- we will support you. Because we understand that there is no one size fits all to improve everyone’s wellbeing. We provide you with a service that is responsive to your needs. We provide you with one-on-one support with our psychosocial recovery coaches who will be there on your journey towards independence and better mental health.  We will get to know you and understand your needs by spending time with you and the people who are important to you.

When it comes to mental illness, psychosocial recovery can mean different things to different people. Some people might reflect on regaining control of their life by better managing their symptoms. For others, it will mean no longer having symptoms of their mental health condition and learning new ways to achieve their life goals.

Working with us

We can collaborate with you to identify a coping strategy that works for you in managing your mental health, and together, we can find a way out that leads to the life that you want and deserve.

How is recovery coaching different to a support co-ordinator?

A recovery coach’s main focus is designed for individuals who have a primary diagnosis of psychosocial disability. On the other hand, individuals do not need a specific diagnosis to have support coordination as part of their NDIS plan. Recovery coaches have specific knowledge of mental health services.
